Police to clampdown on vehicles without plate numbers in Abuja

A statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, noted with regret the manner with which motorists drive around the territory with single or no number plates and car dealers beyond the stipulated time, which is 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. He said the development was contrary to Section 25 of the Federal Capital Territory Road Transport Regulation Act, 2005.

This unlawful act has pricked the attention of the populace, who have now begun to question the effectiveness of the police in addressing the menace,' the statement further explained. The FCT Police Commissioner has, therefore, given a marching order to his men to ensure that vehicles plying the roads with single or no number plate be impounded, the driver arrested and prosecuted.
