An electric vehicles technological features can be appealing, but the upkeep required to maintain the cars can be a hassle for some owners, a recent report shows.

Taking your car to the auto repair shop for maintenance is customary, but if you own an electric vehicle, it’ll likely be there for a longer time. J.D. Power released a new report that finds EVs spend more time in repair shops than gas-powered cars because they require more service needs given the amount of technology in the vehicles, Consumer Affairs reported.

Additionally, EVs compared to gas and diesel-powered cars, had a higher "Problems per 100 vehicles" rate, a metric J.D. Power used to measure quality, per the study. Another finding from the report focuses on EV owners dealing with frustration from false warnings with their vehicles and their inability to understand what the warnings mean.
