Hybrid car fiasco 'a kick in the face' for drivers

Hybrid car owners have been given a “kick in the face” by ministers, motoring bodies have said, as they warned that the surprise decision to ban the vehicles from sale in 2035 will “backfire”.

First we were conned into buying diesel now this !

Johnson regards this simply as yet another bandwagon. Yet another box in his frantic never ending popularity crusade to be indulged and ticked......Next....

I have to thank you Telegraph for truthfulness and for exposing this story. It is utterly scandalous. It is time to put a muscle on these lunatics trying to destroy us financially only to further their own corrupt financial agenda.

The essence of this article is thta hybrid cars will have a useful life far in excess of 15 years which shows a remarkable lack of understanding of engineering. The car will be heading for the knackers yard long before then.

I really don't see the complaint here. If you already own a hybrid, the approaching law won't affect you. If you don't own a hybrid, you've been given 15 years notice not to buy one and buy an electric instead. What's confusing about the government saying 'stop doing stuff'?

However, that's 15 years from now, and 90% of the vehicles on the road will be scrapped long before then. It's not like 'The car I just bought will be worthless next year'. Plenty of time to improve green technology and incentive to do so.
