With the arrival of spring comes the annual Alaska ritual of switching out studded tires to avoid getting a ticket.

Drivers in Southeast Alaska, Kodiak and the Alaska Peninsula need to remove studded tires by Friday, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety. For all other Alaska drivers including those in Anchorage and other Southcentral communities, the deadline to change out studded tires is May 1.

Studded tires can cause significant damage to dry roads, according to Alaska Department of Transportation data.

US 93 shut down near Wickenburg after multi-vehicle crashA multi-vehicle crash has shut down U.S. 93. At about 4:30 Monday morning, a crash involving multiple vehicles including, at least one semi-truck, was reported at milepost 183 between Wickenburg and Congress, AZ. How isn’t this stretch a priority by now? The governors office of highway safety seems to be more worried about undercover cars and lightweight enforcement and not preventative measures as in evaluating redesigns! It's not the roads fault that people are impatient, pass illegally or dangerously, just to save a few minutes on their trip. Sorry another life was lost due to stupidity 😞
