ICA told CNA that Singapore's land checkpoints are one of the busiest land crossings in the world. Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, about 200,000 travellers departed daily, according to ICA.

ICA said that this is a common practice internationally, adding that it also helps to optimise resources.
