EVs are fun to drive w instant acceleration. They're cheap to recharge ($6-9), 4 times as efficient (100+ MPGe) & need min maintenance. You'll save $10-15k on fuel & repairs over 5 yrs. Also great in the winter, always starts & heat comes on instantly, no waiting for cold engine.
It would add pressure but we really need to examine the case by case nature of electrifying personal transport. Some grids are not that green to begin with. Also the support infrastructure is not that advanced in some regions like charging. The ICE will stick around longer.
There are two 'camps' following these kinds of stories. The forward looking and the backward looking. Change and the unknown are always scary/risky but ignorance is bliss for many.

What I love about California is that they have some of the most carbon intensive oil production in the world yet everyone tours them as being this green state. Not a word about their brutal oil production.
