State Sen. Jim Anderson explained, “if you don’t like our gasoline-powered cars, then we don’t like your electric cars.”that a resolution is currently being debated in the Wyoming Legislature designed to phase out the sale of new electric vehicles in the state by 2035. Sen. Jim Anderson, R-Casper, is the sponsor of the resolution, titled “Phasing Out New Electric Vehicle Sales By 2035,” and it is seen as a response to laws enacted by other states that aim to phase out gas-powered vehicles.
Sen. Anderson claims that the proposal’s goal is to oppose state restrictions on the sale of new cars with internal combustion engines, such as those in California and New York. He claimed that the legislature would declare, “if you don’t like our gasoline-powered cars, then we don’t like your electric cars.”
The resolution expresses concern over the state’s lack of EV charging infrastructure, claiming that this would prevent the widespread use of EVs and render their use “impractical.” The resolution mentions several other issues in addition to the absence of infrastructure.
In order to phase out new EVs completely by 2035, the resolution aims to encourage Wyoming’s businesses and residents to voluntarily restrict the sale and purchase of new EVs. Sen. Brian Boner, R-Douglas, who is a co-sponsor of the resolution, noted that Wyoming’s ban on electric vehicles would only be symbolic, in contrast to California’s ban on such vehicles. “One might even say tongue-in-cheek, but obviously it’s a very serious issue that deserves some public discussion,” Boner said.
Legislation of phase out electric vehicles? Why not just go back to the bronze age? How foolish and shortsighted and petty!
How many EVs would that be?
They need to ban assault electric vehicles in the state. Any person caught with one receives a hefty fine and the vehicle is confiscated. Then used for parts to repair washers.
Actuaries at Tesla are already factoring in 7 less sales starting 12 years from now.
Radicalism in both sides is bad. People have right to decide what them want to have. We don't correct left mistakes with radical mistakes. One error doesn't justify another error.
If someone wants to drive electric then let them. But I’m never giving up my gas vehicle. How about we just meet in the middle and accept both without vilifying the other? I know that’s not the Democrat or Communist way but we can always hope…
Either way you have to burn coal to run EV's or burn fossil fuel to run gas guzzlers. But I bet john kerry and nancy pelosi's private jets burn more. Than my Eqinox could in a decade. Just saying.
I was under the impression they were doing this as a statement rather than a serious attempt at making law.
This is as nuts as CA banning ice vehicles. 🤦 Government needs to stay the hell out and let the market work. It will find the proper mix of vehicles. 🙌
Good for them. Probably who voted for him blindly agree.
Fossil fuel is a finite resource, but I do understand that in Wyoming they don't cotton to them new fangled things like electricity and computers, so it is next to impossible to recharge an electric vehicle if there ain't nobody smart enough to plug one in.
Banning electric vehicles is as dumb as banning gas vehicles
All 6 people that live in Wyoming will be proud of this
$TSLA $GUSH $USO
Lithium is not sustainable
When do they phase out the sale of new vehicles period. A lot of us can't afford them.
💯💯💯💯💯💯 Common sense.
Just quit doing bans and mandates. This is not what people want from government.
aDissentient Holy crap, they're phasing out electric cars a few years after phasing out petrol/gas cars? Stock up on horses and carts, lads.
Do they even have electric cars in Wyoming?
