The EPA is preparing to release strict new proposed federal emissions standards for light-duty vehicles that, if implemented, would move the US car market decisively toward electric vehicles over the next decade.

WASHINGTON — The Environmental Protection Agency is preparing to release strict new proposed federal emissions standards for light-duty vehicles that, if implemented, would move the nation's car market decisively toward electric vehicles over the next decade.

By 2032, the rules would ensure that 64% to 67% of all new-car sales in the United States would be electric vehicles, according to the source., comes after California air regulators voted last year to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035 and set interim targets to phase these cars out. "I believe it's pretty doable," said Margo Oge, chair of the International Council on Clean Transportation and a former Obama EPA official. "The industry is there. Europe is ahead of the U.S., China is ahead of Europe, and these companies are global companies."

The EPA rule would ensure that the rest of the country and the U.S. car industry would follow California's lead, Oge said.

We already know electric isn't the most efficient for the environment.

I have always wanted an electric vehicle. I am still waiting for the technology to offer what I want. We still have a long way to go, and this move will only cause further problems. Let the technology mature before forcing it on the masses, and then people will freely choose it

It is by design… and is part of the propaganda arm of the power hungry (no pun intended) people wanting to control the masses with BS science. Shame on KSL for not being a news organization worth anything.

The EPA are terrorists

It will happen regardless. Ice cars have no future.

Time to dissolve the EPA for good.

Cool! Just in time for China to ban the export of precious metals to the US.

EPA MPG Rules for 2027–32 Cars, Trucks, SUVs Getting (Way) TougherThese are expected to be the toughest emissions standards yet, a move that should push the industry even more in the direction of EVs. Just pursue a lawsuit over which one causes more harm to the environment and shut the bureaucrats down. Ridiculous!! And governments want more ethanol in our gas to give us worse gas mileage 🤦‍♂️ Seriously!! This EV thing is going too far 🙄 All the while the charging network for EVs is terrible (except Tesla…where lines are long). We are no where close to be having the infrastructure for EVs to be more mainstream….
