WASHINGTON — The Biden administration will propose strict new automobile pollution limits this week that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030 and as many as two of every three by 2032, according to industry and environmental officials briefed on the plan.
The proposed regulation, to be released Wednesday by the Environmental Protection Agency, would set greenhouse gas emissions limits for the 2027 through 2032 model years for passenger vehicles that would be even stricter than

These kind of rules need passed by Congress not the epa
BidenEcoPlans Biden rules exactly like a Nazi!!!
What the fuck
Not gonna work. There's not enough rare earth minerals on the planet to make all the batteries.
In what world is the President and his EPA supposed to determine what kind of cars American's buy?
Better get those cost down. 40k + for a real EV.
EV are garbage. Get a Diesel.
We will not be able to afford electricity.
We need to change. OPEC just swore fieldty to Russia and cut production again to put the squeeze on everyone.
why not balance this story out with a story looking into the true environmental impact of electric vehicles because I really want to know. That would be a much more interesting story than a politician trying to tell the American people what they can or can’t buy.
I don’t get how this is good for the earth to start with. When those electric car batteries die, where are they going? This would be worse for Earth than climate change. Biden needs to go
I realize most of the 'grandfathers' who run the country aren't very tech savvy But don't you think we ought to be a little more certain about 'reliability' before making sure a commitment statement about ANY computer based gadgets
Good! I want to leave a livable planet for my children and hopefully grandchildren.
How much will these EVs cost?
Just have them make noise so pedestrian can hear them
🖕
NO one but the rich will be able to afford a car. 'The average monthly payment for a new car has soared to a record $777, nearly doubling from late 2019, according to Kelley Blue Book owner Cox Automotive. '
I don’t think they need to legislate it. Manufacturers will end up building electric cars because they will be easier and cheaper to build once the economy of scale ramps up. Just like LCD tvs and front wheel drive cars. Gas cars won’t end , they’ll just be more expensive.
With car dealerships demanding people negotiate the price on new vehicles like they're bidding for a house, many of us will likely keep our older cars. Also the infrastructure and raw material demands still havent been addressed well enough to enforce this.
You don’t have to mandate this shit, people will want them regardless….
so they would require society to stop moving, because we don't have the infrastructure for the small amount of ev we currently have, let alone any increase
It's good policy. Does need to be paired with an increase to power production (ideally nuclear), and infrastructure improvements to reduce car demand overall (rail, denser construction, eliminate parking requirements, subsidize cargo bikes) to be fully effective.
kronayne That’s not strict at all
Nothingburger.
Bottom line if this actually goes through: poor/lower class people won't be able to afford a vehicle at all.
Violates privileges and immunities clause of US Constitution.
Which republicans will reverse when the WH is retaken
Continuing his quest to ruin our economy.. Guess he realizes his time on earth will be past and someone else will have to clean his mess up. JoeBiden POTUS outoftouch.
There needs to come a point were federal rules and regulations are voted on by elected representatives. They have to many far reaching ramifications to be changed with every Administration change. Its just not working.
Innovation is going to happen people... You can hide in your cave and deny it all you want... When you can buy a set of tires and never have to pay for gas again, you'd be a Neanderthal if you didn't...
Something like 30% of Americans couldn't afford two new tyres in an emergency. Now they'll be pushed to buy expensive electric cars, don't think so.
What are electric car sales nationally 1% of all car sales
Not gonna happen. They can’t even get Real ID accomplished and it’s been a decade.
The electical grid will fail. Then what?
Says: Government Funded Mafia, whoops, ment media!
Good stuff. It's called progress
I don't think that's possible tbh
🙄
Grid implosion ahead.
Thank you Associated Liberal Press. He won’t be in office in 19 more months so his admin really won’t have a say in it.
What about the impact of these rules on fuel efficiency for non-electric vehicles?
Just like the forced the jabs, they'll force the electric cars. They know nobody wants those crap vehicles so they have to make it so you have no other option.
Got news for Biden you cant force folks to buy electric cars
EVs are worse for the planet than a traditional combustion engine.
I’m for this, but infrastructure and battery waste should be addressed as well. POTUS WhiteHouse
We do not have the grid to support it, let alone the Firefighting structure to deal with battery fires... in addition until you 1/2 the cost PEOPLE CANT AFFORD THE FREAKING CARS.
This will destroy the environment, the automobile industry and the common man. This is an attack on the American family.
Our current infrastructure simply cannot support everyone charging their cars at home. Texas' grid can't support homes in winter, and California's grid can't support homes in summer. Red or blue, states need better infrastructure before committing to EVs.
All electric cars in the future?
Infrastructure is not ready yet, and the lower end workers can’t afford any battery operated vehicles or the repairs. He’s just kicking the crap out of the people he claims to want to help…
they want to control you with their radical climate agenda
What are they going to run off magic?
Great cars that will cost 20k to repair won’t work in cold areas. Will cost more the gas places where electricity prices are crazy high. I hate democrats and there stupid ideas.
Used cars will get more expensive
that’s not great news for poor folk that can’t afford new cars
Could he please make sure they stay affordable if they have to be bought?
So nice that the president tells me what to buy. I save so much time by no longer having to choose for myself. 🇺🇸
Hell F-ing NO!
Infrastructure not ready that fast
Will never happen. Reality politics.
Based upon what quantitative metric? Fantasy? Mythlore? The Force?
Change is hard. Leading change can be even harder. But thank God we have some leaders who listen to the science and act on it. Our Grandkids will benefit from any sacrifices we make. Climate change is going to be harsh and expensive.
Democrats hate the poor.
A joke, looking at the grid’s capacity. Formula for a fiasco of the highest magnitude.
gonna be a lot of poor people walking .
I wonder how much $ electric vehicle lobbyists are paying our politicians to make this happen
