The Biden administration will propose strict new automobile pollution limits this week that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030, ramping up quickly to as high as 67% by 2032.

FILE - An International Electric MV Series truck is seen on display in Austin, Texas, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023. The Biden administration will propose new automobile pollution limits this week that would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030, ramping up quickly to as high as 67% by 2032. That's according to three people briefed on the plan.

Even the low end of the EPA’s 2030 range is 4 percentage points higher than the 2021 goal, which came after strong pressure from President Joe Biden. Anto be zero-emissions vehicles, including battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric or fuel cell electric vehicles. The EPA declined to offer details ahead of Wednesday's announcement, but said in a statement that as directed by Biden's order, it is “developing new standards that will ... accelerate the transition to a zero-emissions transportation future, protecting people and the planet.''

Suggesting a brake on the optimistic idea of vast emission improvements simply through rule making, however, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade association that includes Ford, General Motors and other automakers, said, “Regulatory mandates alone will not address the conditions that will determine the ultimate success of the EV transition.”

Transportation is the single largest source of carbon emissions in the U.S., but it is followed closely by electricity generation.the sweeping Inflation Reduction Act At present, many new EVs manufactured in North America are eligible for a $7,500 tax credit, while used EVs can get up to $4,000.

The Biden Administration wants to make cars both electric and gas so expensive that the average American can’t afford it. They want you on public transportation. All a form of control.

Electric vehicles are not significantly easier on the environment. Why are we playing this game

This is stupid

Dumbest thing in the world. What about China and all the other countries? They’re not worried about it. So it’s pointless. It’s pointless anyway though.

When are all the new power plants getting built? 🤡

Can't wait until the environmentalists in Racist Joe Biden's party get a load of the strip mining & refining process involved, that will need to start being done here in the USA To supply this 'green revolution' China is 'winning'with this current plan

Not sure I like this. I love my gas powered auto. Thankfully I’ve got 1/3 of my life left, I’ll be dead and gone before I’m forced to buy an electric auto.

And where is the electricity to charge them suppose to come from?

What nonsense as usual from Biden.

Not too worry, folks. Their are plenty of kids in Africa who can mine the minerals for those EV batteries. All hail the EPA.
