Younger students have arrived at Laurentian University's Goodman School of Mines to take part in a series of summer camps called "Electrifying the Future Project.”
The camps are directed to students entering grades 6 to 9, ages 10 to 14 years old, said a news release. The program run by LU is part of a province-wide initiative to expose students of all ages to careers in the growing auto sector. The students will learn about the critical minerals required for manufacturing vehicle drive batteries, how geologists find the minerals as well as learning about constructing a solar vehicle.
Activities will also include programming miniature electric vehicles, interacting with heavy vehicle simulators and even changing a tire while exploring a tire monitoring system.
