Tens of thousands of young scouts are being evacuated from the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea as Tropical Storm Khanun approaches. The evacuation process involves transporting 36,000 scouts via approximately 1,000 vehicles from the county of Buan, where the jamboree is being held.

Beginning Tuesday, 36,000 scouts will be transported via roughly 1,000 vehicles from the South Korean county of Buan, where the jamboree is taking place, according to South Korea’s Minister of the Interior and Safety Kim Sung-ho.The scouts hail from over 158 nations, and accommodations for them will be provided in Seoul and its metropolitan area, according to a report.

Appropriately six hours will be required to evacuate the scouts, as the World Organization of the Scout Movement seeks to"provide all necessary resources and support for participants during their stay and until they return to their home countries."Tropical Storm Khanun is an unusual storm, featuring a winding trail around the southwestern islands of Japan that has seen heavy rain, power outages, and heavy winds, the report noted.

It is expected to arrive in South Korea on Thursday with 73- to 95-mile-per-hour winds, and areas like Buan could be affected as soon as Wednesday.
