Several fire engines, police cars, and ambulances were spotted at the scene

Emergency services have pulled a body from a river in Leeds earlier today after the "unexplained" death of a man.

A major water operation began at the scene. A spokesperson for WYP has now confirmed that the body is that of an adult male. His death is being treated an unexplained at this time and formal identification is taking place.Police said they are still investigating at the scene to try to understand what happened. Police tape has been put on Wakefield Road between Woodlesford and Swillington and several roads have been closed in the area.

In an update, a spokesperson for WYP said: "At 11.23am this morning officers were called to the River Aire at Swillington just off Wakefield Road to reports a body was in the water.
