The new Rolls-Royce Droptail – the first two-seater ever designed and built by the company – is for the very few.
The first example of the Droptail, La Rose Noire, was unveiled at a private event before the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California. Müller-Ötvös is sure the car will be admired again there in 10, 20 and 50 years. A second, the Amethyst, came a few days later. “We’re being challenged, I would say, on a daily and even minute-by-minute basis, and on a different level . . . it is a completely different cadence or frequency of interaction. It’s much more specific. So there’s a very quick pushing back and forth. As creatives, what we love is that the clients will sometimes ask us questions that we never thought of.”
