JON JOHNSON The Providence Christian girls soccer team became the frontrunner in Class 1A-3A, Area 2 thanks to a 2-1 win over Houston Academy on Thursday at the Westgate Complex.
Houston Academy got the first goal of the match when Mary Mills Carter connected after Brinley Harrell had a crossing shot that went wide and Carter was there on the doorstep to knock it in. “They’ve got a very stingy defense and played great tonight, but we were able to put a couple in,” Morton said.
For Houston Academy coach Tom Renshaw, the missed scoring opportunities made for a frustrating night. The Raiders had 30 shots on goals.
