Australians among hero first responders in fatal US crane collapse

An Australian father and son were among the first responders to save the lives of people crushed in cars when a crane fell from a building onto traffic in the US state of Seattle.

Deyan Cashmere had been visiting the state with his father, Bruce, to receive cancer treatment and was in the area around Fairview Avenue North when the structure toppled from the renewed Google building on Saturday.Australian responders were among the first to help pull people from crushed cars after a crane collapsed from a building in the US state of Seattle.

Deyan told local media that he had noticed the crane days before the incident and thought that something was going to happen.Deyan Cashmere had been in Seattle to receive cancer treatment and was one of the first to leap to the assistance of those trapped in vehicles under the crane. Both Australian men had said they noticed worrying signs the crane could collapse in the days before the incident.
